Brainerd Riverfront pushes ahead with plan to revitalize river, downtown.

The Brainerd Riverfront received statewide attention on Sunday. A progress update on revitalization was located in Sunday’s Star Tribune.

This isn’t the first time our efforts were a statewide focus. Two years ago, the Star Tribune highlighted efforts that river communities are making to revitalize their river corridor.

“All up and down the river, cities seem to be taking a second look at the river,” said Rod Osterloh, BRC Chair.

The narrative is changing about Brainerd’s interest in making the Mississippi River our focal point. “Nearly three years ago, the City Council approved a plan that included ideas such as developing a riverwalk, plaza and trail connections. Since then, the plan has been bolstered with new energy and ideas.”

“People can come to Brainerd and pick their own adventure,” Osterloh said. “We’re trying to help Brainerd see itself in a new light.”
